I started to make “Tiffany” glass flowers for my water fountains but soon learned I needed something stronger. I stared working with forms made by glass fussion and I have enjoyed working with melted glass so much that it has put the water fountains work on hold. The basic glass "compatibly" for fusion, is not as pretty as the Tiffany glass because the chemical make up of the glass must be the same or it will crack on cooling. Still, I have found the possibilities endless and can't believe how fast new ideas come each time I take something out of the oven (kiln, horno). I consider my learning the beginning of a craft for me but am quite sure it will soon become an art form. Above are some of my first works, dishes or bowls. |
Empecé a hacer flores de cristal para fuentes, pero pronto aprendí que necesitaba algo más fuerte. Así empecé a trabajar haciendo formas con cristales para fusión. Me ha gustado tanto aprender a moldear con el vidrio fundido que puse de lado el trabajo de flores de cristal para fuentes . La base de vidrio "compatible" para la fusión, no es tan bonito como el cristal de Tiffany, porque la composición química del vidrio debe ser la misma o sino se rompe cuando se enfría. Sin embargo, he descubierto las posibilidades infinitas y no puedo creer lo rápido que las nuevas ideas me vienen cuando los saco del (horno o Kiln). Considero que estoy en el inicio de mi aprendizaje de un oficio, pero a la vez estoy bastante seguro que pronto se convertirá en una forma de arte. Estos son algunos de mis primeros trabajos. | |
