EASTER IN CÓMPETA
Spend the Easter weekend in this beautiful ’white’ mountain village
this year and you can take part in the fourth annual CompetaArt
Walkabout on Saturday 23rd and
Sunday the 24th of
April. Using the specially provided clearly marked maps of Cómpeta and
Canillas de Albaida, you can stroll through the charming cobbled
streets following the Camino des Artistes or Way of the Artists,
visiting the homes and studios of those participating. You may meet
the artists personally and perhaps buying something special that will
enhance your life and home for years to come. The work on display will
cover a wide variety of art forms ranging from painting, sculpture,
photography, glass, woodturning, ceramics and silverwork plus an
amazing collection of textile art which consists of hand sewn
wall-hangings in sumptuous colours and fabrics. This year the group is
especially proud having received the Compita-Compitorum award
for Culture and Arts from the Town Hall.
In
between visits you can relax and enjoy a tapas and a glass of wine in
any one of the bars and restaurants that will be open throughout the
village. On Friday and Sunday you can follow the devoted villagers in
the moving Semana Santa processions carrying their beloved and revered
statues through the winding streets. At mid-day on Friday you can
witness a re-enactment of the Passion and Crucifixion.
A
varied selection of accommodation is available in Cómpeta which can be
reached by travelling along the N340 or A7/E15 and taking the turnings
for Algarroba or Torrox up to Cómpeta. For more information check out

SAMANA SANTA EN COMPETA
Pasar el fin de semana de
pascua en este hermoso pueblo "blanco" de montaña, este año puede formar
parte en la cuarta GIRA de CompetaArt, el sábado y domingo 23 y 24 de Abril
utilizando los mapas especialmente hechos para Cómpeta y Canillas de
Albaida donde puedes pasear por sus encantadoras calles empedradas
siguiendo el camino de los artistas, visitando las casas y estudios de los
participantes. Usted puede conocer a los artistas personalmente y tal vez
comprar algo especial que mejorará su vida y hogar en los próximos años..La
Gira cubre una gran variedad de formas de arte que van desde la pintura,
escultura, fotografía, vidrio, torneado de madera, cerámica y orfebrería
además de una impresionante colección de arte textil que consiste en tapices
de colores y tejidos suntuosos. Este año el grupo se siente especialmente
orgulloso de haber recibido el premio Compita-Compitorum para la
cultura y el arte del ayuntamiento de Competa.
Entre visitas podrá relajarse
y disfrutar de una tapa y una copa de vino en cualquiera de los bares y
restaurantes que estarán abiertos en el pueblo. El viernes y el domingo
puede seguir a los Cómpeteños en las procesiones de Semana Santa llevando
sus pasos por las sinuosas calles. Al mediodía del viernes se puede
presenciar una representación de la pasión y la crucifixión.
Una variada oferta de alojamiento está disponible en Cómpeta a la cual se
puede llegar por N-340 o A7 / E15 y tomar la rotonda del Algarrobo o de
