My continuing relationship with art dates back to
the 1970's where I worked in music publishing in London/New York. I co-ordinated
and commisioned photography, design and promotional graphic material for
both publicity and publication, which contributed to and developed a
continuing awareness and exploration of visual images.
The move to Competa. Spain in 1983, which was
then a crucible of writers, artists, photographers and poets, proved to be
fundamental in my development. I assimilated many influences in the theory
and practice of creative work.
I am influenced both by the power of the
mountains and the sea, the ever changing light, shape and colour. The
abstract ink/water colour paintings are from my imagination. I also
have a curiosity for the past and how the Spanish people lived. The oil
paintings depict my friends and neighbours who live in the village and
work on the land.

Mi estrecha relación con el arte data de los años 70 donde trabajé de
editora de música en Londres/Nueva York. Coordiné por encargo fotografía y
diseño grafico para publicidad y publicaciones, que contribuyeron a que
desarrollara en mi un continuo interés de exploración de las imágenes
visuales Vine a Competa. España en 1983, que era entonces un crisol de escritores, artistas, fotógrafos y de poetas, lo cual fue fundamental en mi evolución. Asimilé muchas influencias tanto en la teoría como en la práctica del trabajo de creación artística. La influencia que tuvo en mí el poder de la montaña y del mar, el color cambiante de la luz y la forma fue decisiva en mi evolución creativa. Las pinturas abstractas de acuarelas son de mi imaginación. También tengo una curiosidad por el pasado y de cómo vivieron sus gentes en estas tierras. Las pinturas al óleo representan a mis amigos y vecinos que viven y trabajan en el campo de esta aldea de la Axarquia.
