‘Los Compadres,’
formed in 2004 by enthusiastic amateurs of everything theatrical,
seek more members for more productions and not just members who wish
to strut on stage or sing and dance or wear cravats and smoke pretty
coloured cigarettes in holders longer than trombones. No indeed.
‘Darlings’ are definitely not on the wanted list.
We are not in need of sweethearts who wear suede
shoes in pretty colours or panama hats with monster brims, but
actors, singers, people who enjoy performing mime and sketches and
people who like to saw wood and paint scenery and build props but
sawn off limbs or badly hammered fingers present no problems. We’ve
invested in a first aid kit – two elastoplasts and a couple of
aspirin, purchased without any consideration to cost. We take care
of our members.
We seek people who know how to
point a light and put a plug on a cable. People who are clever with
needle and thread and scissors and things. People who understand the
importance of sound and light and who would enjoy taking control of
those vital departments and in general, people who enjoy the company
of others who find pleasure in mixing with a sociable crowd who all
get fun out of amateur theatre without throwing moodies, or
clutching foreheads, or foot stamping or head tossing. We don’t like
that. Not really.
With the generous assistance of
local businesses and the generosity of our audiences, Los Compadres
take pleasure in being in a position to make regular donations to
local charities and that all adds to the value of taking an active
roll in ‘Los Compadres.’
A mime is planned for Competa
Culture Week and a cheeky revue is in pre-production for this coming
autumn and a pantomime ‘Don Quixote and the Beanstalk’ will begin
rehearsal later in the year.
So, pick up the telephone and
contact Grace on 952553621, who’ll be delighted to give you all the
details you need to have some fun by becoming involved in Competa’s
very own theatrical group, ‘Los Compadres.’
