What
drives my painting ambition is the attempt to translate what I see,
a particular composition or arrangement
of objects in space, light and
colour onto canvas using oil paint squeezed from a tube. If I can convey
what I see in my mind into a 2
dimensional painting which other people
appreciate then so much the better.
The pleasure (and sometimes torture) comes
from the creative act, in finding the
colours, molding the shapes, evoking a mood or sensation.
My work is figurative in style and the
subject matter varies depending
on where I am and what I 'notice'. I
sometimes use my photographs as source material as I prefer to paint in my
studio. I take inspiration also
from other artists e.g. Morandi, Uglow
and Katz, and was strongly influenced
by jo Volley, my tutor at the Slade.
I paint to communicate, but also to contemplate and appreciate my
world. It gets me up
in the morning.

Lo qué conduce mi ambición a la pintura es la tentativa de
trasladar lo que veo, en una composición o arreglo particular de objetos
en el espacio, luz y color sobre el lienzo usar la pintura al aceite
exprimiéndola del tubo. Si puedo transportar lo que veo en mi mente en una
pintura 2dimensional que la gente apreciara mucho más.
El placer (y a veces la
tortura) viene del acto creativo, en encontrar los colores, moldeando las
formas, evocando un humor o una sensación. Mi trabajo es figurativo en
estilo y el tema varía dependiendo de donde estoy y de lo que me“atrae”.
Utilizo a veces mis fotografías pues con este material me permite mi
preferencia de pintar en mi estudio. la inspiración me viene también a
traves de otros artistas e.g. Morandi, Uglow y Katz, y fui influenciada
fuertemente por Jo Volley, mi profesor particular en la escuela de arte de
Slade en Londres.
Pinto para comunicar, pero también para contemplar y para apreciar mi
mundo. Eso es lo que me levanta por la mañana.
