We are still investigating a December event. I think the wine tasting/ exhibit is probably too much of an undertaking, at least on the scale of the Hotel. It would depend too heavily on my involvement and it should be more of a group involvement. Suggestions: 1. A wine tasting/Exhibit in a smaller location 2. A December craft/art fair behind the town hall 3. An major group exhibt in Malaga, Nerja or Torre del Mar 4. Auction of donated works from our artists and craft persons. |
I have made an easy access to a @competaart.com mail program. If you have a competaart.com e-mail account, click above then enter your e-mail address in the user field and your password in it's field
If you don't have a compertaart e-mail, you can have one free by requesting one from me. You can see your e-mail from anywhere in the world via the internet. |

We had over 500 people attend the weekend with lots of good comments and interest. Several bought works of or members and all the group felt it was worth while and we will be planning the event again next year. Some suggestions for next year: Better maps and directions to help find each venue. More write-ups in many languages and in publications on the coast More Spanisg advertisements in the town and other locations. |

I was contacted by Debi Bond, who ran last years race(walk)4life to raise money for Cancer, to see if I (we) could help with this years event, but for Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice. I decided to look into it since I consider that Hospice performs an incredible service. Here in Spain, the family mostly takes care of the elderly but for us foreigners this option does not exist. To help you to understand what it's about I am including links to race4life and Cudeca but most importantly, to “Alan’s Story”. It was written by Jean Sampson about her experience when her husband died. I think you'll find it as moving as I did.
I have involved
CompetaArt.com to help support the cause. If you got to our homepage
you'll find all the links. Debi asked if we had anything she could use fro
an auction and I e-mailed you all. David responded by saying that in the
past he had given something but at the auction, after the first 3 items
were sold, the things were auctioned off at a ridiculously low price. So I
came up with the idea of having a pre-auction with minimum prices to
guarantee a good income. The auction page on the run4life should be ready
this week. It will include links back to the CompetaArt members page and
information about the items. It should be good for everyone. We have 5
members already giving something. If you want to be included please
respond to this e-mail soon.
However, this is not
the reason I'm writing this e-mail. Now comes the time to to get ready to
walk or donate. Sign up is on the day of the walk, June 1st. Since many of
you are away for the summer, I'm giving you this chance to participate. I
will walk for you and you can support me by signing up on my sponsorship.
It's 10€ per adult and 5€ per child. If you send me how many you want me
to sponsor, you can pay me when you come back. Just send me an email with
your commitment. Please be generous, you all know how much I dislike
walking.
YOU CAN ALSO DONATE
MORE!! Either to me,
Race4life or directly to
Fundacion Cudeca.
Thanks and have a good
summer.

Noche Del Vino Poster Competition The mayor chose to ignore all comments and suggestions for the rules for the competition. The town hall has a copy of the rules in Spanish. I have loosely translated the rules in English below. As a result there were only 5 entries. Most of the rules got changed. And the judging was, at best confusing. We need to work on the mayor during the year to help him do it right next year. However, the winner was a good painting by... |
