Want to know more about me? Okay... I was born in Bruges (Belgium), where my parents named me “Emmely”. That was on the 19th of January 1987. About 13 years later my best friends gave me the name “Butterfly”, which I now use to sign my artworks with.
During my youth I experimented with calligraphy, poems, drawings, airbrush and graffiti. After graduating from high school (2006) I decided to have a Sabbatical Year. I spent the summer at the other side of the country to make sand sculptures. Some artists told me that I might enjoy making mosaics.
After summer I went back home and started looking on internet for a mosaic course abroad. I wanted to travel while learning more about different kinds of arts. Pretty soon I came to Moira’s site. It offered all I needed for an artistic holiday, and a month later I was on my way to Cómpeta.
I took the courses of mosaic and sculpturing, each one took a week. After a few days ik kind of fell in love with the village of Cómpeta.
Four months later I found myself on my way to Cómpeta again (28.02.2007), to find out if I wanted to start a new life there. And, seems like the answer turned out to be “Yes”... cause I’m still here!
The summer of 2007 I started painting in Acrylic on canvas. The first painting, I made with my arm in a plaster (broken right hand). I just couldn’t wait any longer to start painting in acrylic ;-)
Now that I’m starting to see some evolution in my work, I hoped to find some people with the same interests. So I can learn about their experience and put more quality in my work. That’s how I came to the group of Cómpeta Art.

¿Quieres saber más sobre mí? Bueno… Nací en Brujas (Bélgica), dónde mis padres me llamaran “Emmely”. Este pasó el día 19 de enero de 1987. Aproximado 13 años más tarde, mis amigas me dieron el nombre “Butterfly, el cual ahora uso para signar mis obras de arte.
Durante mi juventud experimenté con caligrafía, poemas, dibujos, airbrush y graffiti. Después de graduar del segundario (2006) decidí para tomar un año sabático. Durante el verano estaba al otro lado del país para hacer y restaurar esculturas de arena. Algunas artistas me dijeron que puede ser que me encantaré el mosaica. Después del verano volví a casa y empecé buscar un curso de mosaica en el extranjero, porque quería viajar y aprender mucho sobre los artes. Pronto llegué a la página Web de Moira. Se ofreció todo lo que necesitaba para unas vacaciones artísticas. Un mes luego estaba en camino hacia Cómpeta.
Tomé el curso de mosaica y el de esculpir, cada de una semana. Después de algunos días, de una forma, me encontré enamorada del pueblo de Cómpeta.
Cuatro meses más tarde me encontré en camino hacia Cómpeta otra vez J (28.02.2007) para averiguar si quería empezar una vida nueva por allí. Parece que la respuesta hubiera sida “si”… porque todavía estoy aquí.
Durante el verano de 2007 empecé pintar con acrílico sobre lienzo. La primera pintura hice con mi brazo en un yeso (factura en el mano). Es que no podía esperar más tiempo para pintar J
Ahora que veo algún evolución en mis obras, espero encontrar algunas personas con las mismas interesas. Así que entré en el grupo de Cómpeta Art.
